Lead is a heavy and toxic metal, symbolized by Pb with an atomic number of 82. It belongs to group 14 and period 6 of the periodic table. Sixty percent of the total production of this metal comes from recycled materials. A significant portion of lead is used in lead-acid batteries, lead sheets, and other recyclable metal applications. The most important lead ore is galena (PbS), which often occurs in association with zinc and silver. The mineral ores extracted for lead production include galena, anglesite, and cerussite, with galena being the most economically valuable.
The Faramin Asia Industrial and Mineral Laboratory offers services for the analysis of lead minerals and their composition.
