Cadmium (Cd) is a chemical element with the atomic number 48. This soft, silver-white metal is chemically similar to two other stable metals in group 12: zinc and mercury. Greenockite is the most important cadmium ore, typically found in association with galena and sphalerite. Cadmium is also obtained as a byproduct of copper, lead, and zinc production. The Faramin Asia Industrial and Mineral Laboratory provides services for the analysis of cadmium minerals and their composition.
